Royal Wedding : Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen
The entourage of the royal family managed to keep the big secret over Kate Middleton’s dress until the very last moment.
What a pleasure to see Kate step out a Rolls Royce at the doors of Westminster abbey this morning in a Sarah Burton sparkling ivory satin dress.
Sarah was during 16 years the close collaborator of Alexander McQueen and became since the death of her friend in February 2010 the artistic director of the fashion house.
She imagined a minimalist strapless dress with long sleeves made of lace inspired by the copycat Grace Kelly’s wedding dress collection.
The tighten waist dress emphasized Kate’s curves before flaring into a long bridal train carried by her sister, Pippa. Kate’s face was hidden behind her veil held in place by a vintage Cartier tiara called the Scroll Tiara representing lotus blossom that King George VI gave to the later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1936.
Kate couldn’t paid a better tribute to the British fashion genius died just a year ago, Alexander McQueen.
